He is also concurrently a General Surgeon. Dr Yang Ching Yu received his MBBS in 1980 from the University of Singapore. He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons (Glasgow) (1986) and the Academy of Medicine Singapore 1992. Dr Yang underwent advance specialist training at The Cleveland Clinic, Ohio USA, where he was a special Fellow in the Department of Colorectal Surgery and Gastro-Intestinal Surgery under a Singapore Government Health Manpower Development Plan Scholarship in 1989. Besides general surgery procedures, Dr Yang is particularly interested in colorectal surgery, sphincter persevering rectal procedures, complicated recto-anal fistular surgeries and has extensive diagnostic & therapeutic endoscopy experience. He has been actively pursuing minimally invasive laparoscopic procedures since 1990. In July 2003, Dr Yang was the lead surgeon involved in the successful separation of the Korean Ischio-pagus conjoined twins at Raffles Hospital.
